Finally got round to fitting the poly rear cross-member donut bushes just before Christmas, expected some additional road noise but nothing near as much as I'm hearing.

Anyone else found the same?

Hmmm...  wonder if I've managed to trap something... I'll have a good look when it's up on the ramp for its MOT in a few weeks.

Perhaps the knackered rubber bushes were masking an existing noise? Have you checked the oil level in the diff(I managed to get a litre of oil   in mine which made it much quieter) and replacing a noisy wheelbearing made a huge improvement.

You could be onto something there cos I noticed the diff is wet so I'll need to check that.  But the bushes were a preventative change cos they were last done 4 years ago and I had to drop the cross-member anyway to do the anti-roll bar bushes.  It was quiet before albeit with a small knock over bumps cos of the ARB bushes.

I didnt realise there was more polybushes available for the Omega's.... Iv only got the front wishbones and ARB polybushed on mine... any chance of a link to what is available, I know from past experience of using polybushes that make a massive difference to how a car handles...

Sometimes the centre spacer in the bush fits inside the captive nut hole in the body, so when tightened, the bolt won't tighten until it meets the inner skin of the body by the rear seats, which could give the extra noise, and hence the bush is also deformed inwards, which might give a visual clue.

Try loosening the centre bolts and levering the subframe forwards to miss align the bush spacer away from the captive nut holes. Or fit a large washer on the large bolt, between body and bush, and the top rubber pad as well as the poly pad, to take out any slack caused by fitting the washers.

More than you ever want to know about the Omega's suspension upgrades. Written for the Cadillac Catera but well, you know. Contains lists of available polyurethane bushings, front & rear including strut top mounts and rear donuts. Enjoy.

The group buy a couple of years ago was through Pedders, but included a reasonable discount... camber kits aren't recommended as I recall, but cannot remember why

Yeah, I got a set from the group buy.

The rear camber kit issue is that the stiffer bushes restrict the effect of the rear toe bars I think.  Depends how you like it to behave at the back.
