2nd key.....?
« on: 08 March 2015, 08:54:01 »

Hello folks... bare with me....

When I had my Vectra B I only got 1 key with it, I swapped over the CL interface from preface to facelift and ended up having 2 keys - I was happy with that for many years...

I got my Omega January 2014 with the 1 key, its been driving me nuts ever since TBH. Is it as simple as swapping over the CL interface with matching fobs as I did with the Vectra or is it more involved...?

I hav got the CL interface from the Vectra but of course it won't be any good on the Omega as there is no facility on the interface for the boot release, otherwise I would use that and be happy with the 2 keys :)

Also, I have a blank immobiliser transponder chip that needs programming to the car, I would need the car pass for me to do this, can the car passes still be obtained....?

Iv got the software to programme it and diagnostics etc... I won't mention its name as its forbidden on here :)

I'll get in touch with my local Vx place and see if they can obtain it for me... Hopefully they won't tell me its obsolete as they have done in the past for parts....

Thanks for the answer :)

I think it's as much to do with repairing the fall out from using that for programming... best used as a code reader imho :-\

No doubt TB will be able to explain the exact issues with it :y

Never once had a problem using it to code keys to an ECU.....

....yet  :(

Assuming we are talking about the same thing of course, I'm sure a certain admin will be aiming to discuss the number of ecu's he's had to re configure with tech 2 that have been screwed by certain software.

It's also fussy about which model year it works with. So it might be the case that it works ok on yours, but not on another. So if it works on yours, great news, but its not advised.

It won't talk to all my ecu's I know that much. But it does the main ones and live data so well worth having, it's just the programming side to stay clear of. Sadly

Doesn't IT (perhaps that should be a new name for it) recover the numbers needed to program keys/alarms? I'm sure I've seen it in one of the menus, although that might have been on a mate's Astra.
Considering the price, and that IT allows you to look at all the live data, I consider it an essential tool for anyone who needs to efficiently diagnose a Vauxhall and can't justify a real Tech2. Which is all of us if we're honest.

All the menus are there I'm fairly sure. Thing is, it won't always communicate with each menu/ecu. For instance my 03 will talk to abs and self levelling. But not servo-tronic and something else I can't remember. Where as I know of a couple of earlier cars that get gear box and engine, live data, and that's your lot.

There's something about the way it communicates that allows corruption. If just reading codes and data it will just start again, but if that happens in programming then you've likely oppsed it completely.

....or something like that anyway. But yes what it does do reliably is well worth having.imo.  :-X
