Corsa stereo question
« on: 09 March 2015, 06:31:21 »

Okay, having spent the last 3 days driving around in the lads car, I can confirm that the standard setup of CDR 2005 and OEM paper speakers is shite beyond belief  :(
In fact, id even have preferred to listen the missus dribbling in my ear for 3 days solid  ;D
THAT is how bad it sounds  ;D ;D

I have been looking on eBay at the CD30 which seams quite cheep.
What are these units like ?
Will they place mp3 discs ?
Any aux in ?
Is the wiring the same at the back ?

TIA  :-*

I'm no stereo expert-or any other expert now I think of it-but how much of the crap sound is down to the rubbish speakers and not the head unit?In other words would it be worth putting in a better class of speaker?

Isn't this standard fitment in the Omega MV6?

2005 sounds familiar.

CDR2005 (and the PFL equiv, CR500) are the worse fitted to Omegas.

Not sure if CD30 would be a viable swap, as sure its full CAN only. It can do MP3s though.

Pretty sure the CD30 like I have in the Corsa will not work in an Omega due to the CAN bus. Also not all CD30 play MP3 they will be marked MP3 by the CD30 model code on the front of the unit if they do, our Corsa is a 2005 and that wont play MP3 disks. Hope that helps.

CD30 wont work as its a totally different setup to the earlier 2005 and requires full CAN

A few misunderstanding going on here I think  ;D

The upgrade is for the Corsa  :)
Not my Omega Mv6 which has a 2013 / CID setup with Infinity components fitted already  ;)

Bazza ............. Spot on with that mate  :)
The speakers will be getting replaced with something of better quality (which fit in the original holes) but at the end of the day, no matter how good your speakers are, if you pump shite into them they will sound crap anyway  ;D

I'm getting a little confused here (and keep your comments to yourselves on that bit  :D) about this CAN business  :-\
They seem to be a hell of a lot of CD30's complete with the pared relevant display for sale on eBay which claim to be Corsa C compatible.

Corsa C setup changed mid production....so earlier models don't have full CAN, later ones do

Any idea when the change over was Mark ?

With some of the Corsa C's using the old 1.7 dti engine before this one, i'm wondering if all the 1.3 cdti's came with full CAN  :-\

If not the only option would be to fit one of these chav type all in one, Double D size things which light up the car like a friggin disco  ::) ;D

I've just checked.

My MV6 comes with a CCR 2006 unit.....complete with 'state of the art' tape player. :)
