That Brackley village carrot cider has gone to his head I think.  :P ;D

Croydon is perfectly placed to be the arse hole of London, Imo. Take the slug. Opps that.
The Slug goes nowhere useful. Plus now they've mended the track, its back to being overcrowded and late.

....it doesn't go as far as the London Underground?  You do know about the underground, right?
Marylebone isn't renown for useful Underground routes. In general, at busy periods, its frequently quicker to walk.

Standing up in a sweatbox surrounded by dribbling 'tards, and paying £70 for the privilege of being late, or sat in the comfort of a nice armchair with the radio for company.  Hmmm, no brainer really ;)

Yeah, I'd always use the car if possible.

Just checked, starting at my nearest station going to the nearest to where I needed to be, leaves at 6:15ish, gets there at 9:30, costs £81 for the ticket (:o) and £7 to park. Plus the journey at each end (about 7-8 miles one end, 10 min walk the other).

Or leave at 6:30 and arrive just gone nine, no lugging big, heavy bags (and some old 3.5" disks in this case as well).

I fail to see why anyone would ever use public transport by choice  :-\

Round these parts you don't even get a bus pass when you're too old not to piss your pants. You get vouchers, which basically give you 8 return journeys.

Well it wasn't my choice to live here. I liked being a townie.

But as she says, I've now turned into a Bumpkin, and have little desire to live anywhere else...   ...whilst I can still drive ;D

It's that carrot cider I tell you. Makes you walk round in circles.  ;D

Somebody tell bumpkin boy to stop moaning.  ;D  ;) ;D

Anyway, I don't envy you that journey. Croydon is a hell hole.

When I worked in London with my future FIL, he used to commute from Horsham. He was knackered most days.

Last week, I was sat bored senseless in traffic trying to get into Croydon at rush hour. So I rang Mrs TB, and amongst other things, said I couldn't live there as the traffic would do my nut.

The cheeky mare said I'd turned into a Country Bumpkin :o.

Me, the confirmed townie from Aylesbury, a Country Bumpkin?

After the call ended, and whilst rebuilding some PoS redirector server, I pondered on her words. And decided, after living 14yrs on Mount Brackley, part of a small, quiet market town on the Bucks, Oxon and Northants border, she was right  :-[
Struggling with the image of a townie in Aylesbury  :-\

I miss living in the country where I could walk the dog for miles in the fields and the house had a garage so I could work on my cars.....

....on the upside, losing that side was a minor side effect of escaping the X which was a far more important thing for my sanity!

Unfortunately, I cannot modify the Wycombe Meet thread to say that apart from the normal food Chris does, this year, we will also be offering Carrots  :D

So, "You can take TheBoy out of the town but you can't take the town out of TheBoy" isn't true then.  ;D

And to think that you Aylesbury'ites used to say that us village boys sounded loik faaaarmers.  ;) ;D
