hi guys

is it possible to fit  3.2 elite suspension strut + spring n/s +o/s on a 2.2 cd or is it not recommended.

Spring rates are different according to the body and engine types... For a 2.2petrol you need 2.2 petrol springs

Will physically fit, but Elites are very softly sprung by comparison, so won't match the rear as Elites have self levelling and cd doesn't. It will be mismatched.

But more importantly, the 4 pot is much lighter than the v engines so it wI'll ride way too high at the front.

Not good. At all.

Just checked my new rear replacement springs and they are 9.75 inches high is this right I have been assured they are the right springs for my car

They sound a touch short where are they from?

Guess only way to find out is to fit them...

Not aware of any info here for the uncompressed spring length. Just the ride height as discussed earlier.


Usually part number and manufacturer or ident number give more clues.

Got them off eBay previous buyers have rated them highly the springs are smp lw0064 Germany made oe specification.
Just remeasured them they are 10 inches. not 9.75 as my son said

Ok, my heavy duty v6 ones are 11 inches, hence my question

Of course if you posted a link to the ad/seller you got them from we could say with a degree of certainty

Ok, they are about as non specific as it's possible to be...

Get them fitted and see how you get on.

I am gonna fit them myself using the spring compressors
do i  need to drop the diff just undo the lower suspension arm and use the spring compressor to take out and replace

There is a guide, but...

Forget spring compressors...  You don't have room to use them.

Rear up on axle stands.
Wheels off.
Undo lower shock bolts and make sure shocks are free of the arms.
Big jack under diff. Jack 1/4" max.
Undo four bolts for rear subframe mounts behind diff.
Lower carefully as far as you can.
Weight on hub, push it down as far as you can.
Lever old spring out.
Lever new spring in.
Repeat other side.
Jack diff up until rear mount brackets touch the chassis.
Refit all four bolts. Tighten as per Haynes.
Refit shocks, and tighten bolts as per Haynes.
Remove jack from diff.
Refit wheels.
Remove stands.
