Trade Club Oil - price?
« on: 09 April 2015, 13:44:05 »

Went in to get a drive belt and some TC 10W40 oil - told it's not TC anymore for '3 for 4' 5l tubs = 20 litres, they've just 'corrected' the price, meaning that for 20l it now works out at £39. and some pence. Anyone else had this? Or was the guy telling porkies, as it used to be £30 for 20litres. It's still a cheap price, just wanted to check, really  :y

The offers do indeed vary, you have to ask what the current offer is... can be 4x5L for cost of 3x5L or 20litre drum, sometimes GM branded, sometimes Chevrolet branded... but either way, £10 a gallon is pretty good in the grand scheme of things :y

4 x 5ltr bottles is slightly more expensive than the 20ltr drum. But then it always was. Some prefer it in 5 litre cans as its easier to poor and throw away the old stuff down the dump.

Tc oil price no longer exists. Because they made the TC oil price, the price!

They even print trade club oil on the side as said. So there's no excuse now, you don't even need to be on tc to get tc oil.

....although I'm sure Sir Carrots will think otherwise ;D

Who dat den?  :-\  ::)  ;D

As a non TC type person I have bought GM oil at TC prices, so if the Member from Reading is referring to me, I don't think otherwise.  ::)

However.....  Last time I went in to buy some I got told that they didn't have any in stock, or group stock and didn't know when they were getting any.  :-\  I'd rather he'd just told me to go forth and multiply, as that's what he obviously meant.  ::)  >:(

That's interesting, it's always been a shade under £40 + VAT from my local Vx dealer. That makes it just shy of £48 or £12 a can which is still cheap for good oil.

To add to my post above, my receipt says:

VUKTOTW01 Trade Club Oil  £27.95 + vat  = Total £33.54

This may help if you need to quote numbers.  :y

We were told in this area that the 5 litre cans were no longer available only the 20 litre drum now. Last time I was at my tc dealer it was £26 plus vat for the 20 litre

Cheers boys. Can't understand why the guy was claiming they don't do the 20 litre drums... how does it happen that one dealer does, and another doesn't? Don't recall ever going in to buy an oil filter and the guy saying 'oh, no we don't do oil filters at this branch, try SLady bitshorpe' strange  ???

You're in that minority of people what found they had a part for the Omega on the shelf! Got my drive belt the other day, but everything else recently has been a few days wait as it has to come from the Fatherland...

Just rang them (actually went in the last time) got a price for 20 litres... £29 + vat, so £34.80.

 ::)

Baffling! Put on a silly voice and didn't give my name, and I get a better price than when I went in and recognise me, and know I've been going in there for 15 years!

I have discovered over the years that ringing any commercial outlet - as in motor factors/builders merchants etc. - if you ring and say " can you give me a price for...?" rather than "how much is...?" you will frequently get a better price, the phrase implying that you are checking prices, (which you can always add to the question anyway.) :y
