If you told me back then that you would be able to fly from Gatwick to Guernsey in thirty minutes, I would have been obliged to laugh in your face.

That particular flight took well over two hours

Irrespective of the video showing the crosswinds, as an aside, when they built the runway at Birmingham, why did they not make it flat, rather than hilly

Watching from the outside is a bit like watching a car or bike pressing on. Always feels far more controlled from the inside.

Carrier landing are always interesting to watch, where they are much more of a controlled crash, especially at night, in fog and rough weather and everyone is rated by the LSO that goes on the pilot's record. The F18 as a light fighter that lost the flyoff against the F16, gained serious weight and a beefed up undercarriage to make it suitable for carrier operations.

Yeah, he could have walked away from that one with barely a limp*, I reckon.

* - ok, maybe he'd be walking a little awkwardly if he got too scared.
