I'd thought as much.
SWMBO went into full rant mode after joining the review site last night but it's still isn't available for viewing. You'll recognise it I'm sure but she went under the name of Netty Noodles ;)

Well reading through this lot it looks as though I have had a very narrow escape!

I was thinking of having a Spain meet at our gaffe. Not sure I would have welcomed people squeezing between our olive trees, pinching electric, having BBQ's, staggering back from the bar 400metres away late at night, bombing in the pool, or generally lolling around relaxing.

Shame as I could have done with some help changing my gearbox and cambelt. Oh well plan B.

TBH that site is a bit control freakery but it does have a useful searchable list of sites.

I'd recommend a facts not emotions post

Wonder how James V6 & Maria and Mr & Mrs KW are enjoying Linda's "hospitality" this evening?

He He. Just got back (29.8 MPG - maybe I'd have made 30 if I hadn't played with that Audi on the A34 :-X).

Anyway, more moaning last night. Only the 5 of us there so we were sat outside a tent having a couple of tinnies and a quiet chat. Daughter comes over and says that they'd had some complaints and would remind us that the site has a quiet rule after 10 PM, but that "we were OK". :-/

So, if we were OK why did she bother? And who compained? When? About whom? ::) >:(

.. and if there was a quiet rule why didn't that apply to CaptainZok and I who were still busy putting the world to rights at 2:30 AM the previous morning?

Still, managed to find an unblocked toilet this morning which was a turnup for the books.

Total shambles on the part of the camp site. Making things up as they go along to suit themselves. If you pride yourself on running a quiet camp site the last thing you should do is to take on a large group and distribute them all over the place, surely?

Anyway, it didn't really spoil what was a great weekend. Good to see everyone. :y

If they're in a mig, I bet its hidden under a bush by now ;D

Its a bloody shame the aggro that was going on during the weekend, because when we were left alone( eventually), we were having a really nice time there.
Yes there was work being done on a few cars, but at no time were we upsetting anybody else. No fluids were dumped on the ground. OK, I'll accept (just) the point about tools lying around, however all the cars being worked on were in the one area, apart from chopsdad who needed hard standing for the exhaust, and the tools were between those cars only. when we were finished, all tools & rubbish were moved even down to the empty coke cans.

Alot of the points & moans from the daughter resulted from her cack handed organisation.
If, as has been said already, we were to be sited over the wall, no one would have been any wiser to what we were doing
If she hadn't tried to squeeze us all together with no room, we wouldn't have needed to park all the cars en-masse in the one corner
With a bit of thought & common sense, the members here & the owners could have worked together to organise a yearly event in the same place that would have grown, both helping the forum & generating a fair wad of notes for the owners.

maybe someone should email them this thread :-X

Not taking her side by any means, but her inital problem was the amount of no show on her list.

She had kept us a lot of pitches, claiming to have turned away business because of us, although had we been in the original location (with a little power) there would have been no issue.
She then wanted us to move our cars of the electric pitches so she could sell those on, that is fair enough in my mind, the cars squeezed in anywhere.

Noone looked even remotely annoyed at the work going on, one even asked if we did fiat's at one point, lots of interested looks from others,
and a poor Omega driver didnt know what hit him when he arrived at the site in his car, unaware of us lot gawping at him  ;D

I can understand her aprehension at car work going one, 'its a campsite, you could be spilling oil and allsorts everywhere, kids need to play etc'  although no mess was made or left.

Moving the BBQ site was a big headache to us, and in reality it was from by some family, to by some others.  not as if we were making noise anyway, just chatting.

She was very obnoxious, and never stopped yelling who's is that car, ill charge you if it doesnt move, who's is that tent, they havent paid fully yet etc.  We were not made to feel welcome at all.

We werent very welcome last year, so was suprised our booking was accepted this time.

It isnt even what I would call a nice / good site, much better about, but group bookings are the issue

.. but she could have asked for a deposit. Surely it's not unusual for a camp site to get a few no-shows when it's pi$$ing down?

Conversely, JamesV6CDX booked in advance but was initially told the site was full on Saturday night and was only given a (caravan) pitch after arguing the toss. >:(

It has the potential to be a lovely site, but requires management who know their @rse from their elbow.

Surely she made money from deposits from the people that didnt turn up.

In two sentences, they are working in the "hospitality" business, and they haven't got a bloody clue, about organisation, customer relations, site management, (including blocked toilets and insufficient supply of hot water for showers etc). the working relationship between the mother and daughter was a classic case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand was doing, not an ideal trait when your running any business.

Quite agree. I like paying deposits as you can drop out last minute without feeling guilty, as they have the opportunity to make more money out of you by reselling the pitch.

Have stayed on some lovely, far friendlier sites.

Even last year she was a little hitler before we even began doing anything.

They seem a load of jobsworth's who dont want to be helpful.

The farmer seemed very pissed off to have to keep resetting the electric, but if his setup worked, surely he shouldnt have to!

That's the key, I think. It's fundamentally a farm where the camp site is just an additional irritation on the side. When you're dealing with animals all day, your standards of hospitality can be allowed to slip a little, and it doesn't really matter...

Someone should have filled her outside waste pipe with expanding foam, remind how bad the toilets are. ;D ;D
