Crank sensor
« on: 11 May 2015, 11:23:56 »

Just been looking on vauxhall car parts for prices of crank sensors but ive seen 3 different part numbers for the  Y26SE  ??? I take it all  Y26SE crank sensors are the same connections and these part numbers are just from different makers  :-\

It states "This is a new Vauxhall part"

Only buy genuine from a genuine Vauxhall dealer that you genuinely have to walk into... Anything else is a total waste of time and money and effort, and we will all say 'I told you so' in a very loud chorus when it fails ;)

I take it that the sensors fail due to being wrongly routed and suffer from heat damage ? I noted that some have an aluminium wrap on the wire .

Partially,  but pattern sensors fail simply because they're shit...

Noted , i'll get a spare and look at the route the wire is at on the car . Is there a picture of re route , im guessing the original route was near to the manifold without looking .

I got a "genuine" Bosch one for my last 2.6 from Vauxhall World at Grays. Came in a lovely yellow & red bosch box with the part sealed in a plastic inner bag  cost £52 if I remember . . .  But it did not have GM on the bag   . .  failed after 3 months .
So GM only from a vx dealer  . . the only way to go  ;) ;)

My original[at least I assume so due to routing of wiring]failed at a shade over 130,000mls.It's replacement a genuine GM part failed after 600mls!!So much against advice on here I've gone "pattern"and so far no more problems after 1700mls.

Pattern sensors are universally shite. Without exception. Reguardless of marque they are made for. Whatever car you have, omega or not, buy genuine.
