We have theories about the 'failure' that I won't post in public.  Tunnie is redoing, for free, the CBT on Sunday morning, and I expect him to to have a cert by lunchtime :y

Just read the thread for the 1st time.

Keep going matey, hope all goes well on Sunday.

If it ends up being the same instructor and he gives out the verbal again, then report the sod. :y

well its not a re-test, the CBT is a course. I have a feeling why he asked me to come back Sunday, cause at the end of it yesterday, he asked me had i done a CBT before, i said, no. but he did not respond to that  :-/

Not sure if that was good or bad. If i had done the road test that day, we could have not gone fast, the 50cc twist-go would have been left behind.

Mother tunnie will be too busy with her new Omega  ;)

well i went back just now, was told to be there at 8am.

Got up, it was dry outside. But after i was showered and ready it was pis$$ing it down, you could tell it was here for the long haul, and this was no shower  :(

Its only half a mile up the road where the learning place is, but i decided to take a little drive to see what the weather was like, bloody awful spray everyware from the other cars, its still really windy, could even feel the car being moved by the wind.

So I decided that i was not going to learn in this weather, this would be the first time i would be taking a bike out on the road.

So i go to the learning carpark thing where we arranged to meet, other guy who i was learning with last week was there. After some discussions, we both decided again that neither of us wanted to learn in this weather.

Instructor turns up, and the barrage of bad langauge continued from Thursday.

I said - "not sure if i want to learn in this weather"

His first responce was "bye then"

At which point the other guy who was learning with me said "pardon?"

Instructor - "you fcking joking? your never going to ride a bike in the fcking rain?"

He then contined to off load his van with the bikes  :o

After some breif discussions, me basically repeating that i did not want to learn in this weather, he said this is your last chance, i don't know when i can fit you in next, will prob be september!

At which point i had enough of this, I am not going to learn to ride a bike in the rain with you swearing black and blue at me, and never make a positive comment about my riding.

The other guy mentioned it too, that this instructor, never, never! once gave a comment such as "thats it your getting it, well done"

Or "that was better" - It was either, "fcking don't do that" or silence.

So i am keeping dry, and put on the xbox 360 and GTA4  :)

Hi Tunnie
I have just been reading your response and I am completely gob smacked at this instructor!!
I used to have my own bike training business and was a fully qualified DSA approved instructor, this guy who took you is it his own business or is he a down trained instructor working for someone else.
If this is his business you want to report him to the DSA.
I havent read all the responses but the way a CBT works is that there is no time scale to completing it.
Its just usually a full day should get you through.
Now saying that it does depend on a few factors
how confidant you are on your riding abilities, how good your instructor is and how confident he is on allowing you to contnue.
While your riding around on the off road area he should be assessing you all the time and only when he feels you have got to a stage where you could go out should he ask you if you feel up to it.
The minimum time for assessing you on the road is 2 hours now if he thinks you still are not up to it or you are not happy he should arrange another time and take you out untill he is satisfied that he can give you your certificate.
I will stress this point again there is no time scale
I do have a concern though and that is why you are not happy at going out in rain?
is it because you are unsure about your riding or is it to do with him?
I used to trian all day in rain and some of my students would turn up with no waterproofs.
some where absolutely drenched (usually young lads who thought it cooler to be wet than look stupid !!!!)
At the end of day they looked like drowned rats but they had grins the size of cheddar gorge because they had enjoyed riding so much.
that is exactly what it should be even in wet the joy of riding a bike is fantastic.
I have trained hundred of people of all shapes sizes ages etc and apart from one chap who just couldnt get his balance right on 2 wheels (I spent a whole day on test track at end of day I asked him if he would like to come back for more practice before I took him out on road he declined quite happy really saying I did enough and he was going to stick to his classic car)
so I will stop ranting on now and hope to hear from you
