Worrying
« on: 19 May 2015, 18:34:49 »

Had reason today to hop into a driving school car-a well known nationwide school-to move it just a few yards, all perfectly legit and authorised.Anyway gets in and there on the drivers side screen pillar is a little sticker in the shape of an R while on the passengers side screen pillar is another one in the shape of an L! What kind of learner drivers have we got that don't know left from right without some kind of prompting? This is worrying these people are supposedly in charge of what is potentially a lethal weapon!!and they're coming soon to a street near you!!!!

Lots of people don't know their left from their right. Lots isn't a big enough description, but I don't want to exaggerate.
I frequently get directions from customers who have to shake the hand they write with to distinguish between the two.

What's more worrying is the amount of people driving around who seem to have no understanding of how a roundabout works.

What's more worrying is the amount of people driving around who seem to have no understanding of how a roundabout works.

Or any other junction for that matter.

This seems to be the procedure

Stop half a car length before the white line.
Wait there until one of the 2649678 drivers waiting behind you  loses their temper and uses their horn.
This is your signal to increase your engines RPM to one less than the limiter, and slip the clutch to move the car to the white line.
Now you peer myopically in each direction until the helpful person behind hoots again.
This means you MUST panic, and pull out into the road with such a jerk that the car stalls when it is blocking both directions.
Using your years of driving experience, you now turn to the direction of the vehicle that is going to hit you first.
This allows you to receive the entire experience of being hit by an articulated truck at 25mph.
Maybe you don't bleed to death before the emergency services cut you out of the wreckage and load you into an ambulance.

I seem to regularly get glared at by people waiting at roundabouts when I enter it on their right and drive across them. I've often witnessed the angry face turning into a sheepish, incredulous grin when they all of a sudden realise "Oh yeah, he had right of way.....I'm a pillock ".

Theres a mini roundabout near me that is exempt from the rules of the road as the exit from asda leads onto it, they can see you coming from their right for at least 100 yrds but just sail out in front of you when they please. I'm just waiting for the right one thats a green astra estate and i'll just plough into the tinker  >:( ;D

 ....

At the junction from one of the main roads from my estate, people drive to the junction towards the left of the lane & then indicate right! They then sit and wait for a 2 mile gap in the traffic that is never going to happen, all the while they're blocking anyone behind them that 'just' wants to turn left. If they (usually women  :-X) had half a brain cell, they'd wait on the right of the lane & let people passed them to turn left! ................... breathe  ::)
