iOS deleting an email account and notes.
« on: 23 May 2015, 11:16:45 »

I have an old email account on iOS that is no longer supported (by yahoo) it is supposed to be backed up to outlook but outlook no longer sees them. The emails are viewable on the phone though.

The phone keeps flashing up " unable to get mail" on this account. So I want to stop this. But obviously I don't want to loose the old emails, especially as the notes app relies on email (no bloody idea why that is, but there we are)

I don't understand how email works with notes, so not sure what to do. I would of thought that any notes that where going to disappear as a result of loss of connection to the server would have gone by now. However I have seen notes disappear due to bugs in the email system.

Is there a way to disable the email account without deleting it? Or will deletion be no problem for existing data. This I doubt.

Deleting the account will remove everything from the phone. Maybe change the sync from push to manual so that it stops trying to get info from the server (will save battery as a plus) you'll still have everything on the phone though.

As a separate note-maybe export the mail to a new account and then set that up in the phone so you can delete the account fully and have a working one again.

If you have more than one mail account in the phone, make sure you only change the sync in the one you want. Not all of them.

If the above is what you want to achieve go to settings, mail, fetch new data, and then on the account you want change it from push to manual.

Still asking for password. Which it has done since support stopped. :(
