When I was 23, I was having a very hard time of stuff, and basically stormed off from the newent meet that year.

I am now 31, I have gained masses of life experience (in comparison)... but unfortunately some things are just never forgotten.

Conveniently, the masses of members I have helped, many either free of charge or for token payments over the last ten years... doesn't seem to even begin to outweigh one small mistake

It may be that, again, I am feeling a bit jaded, and isolated. I have had an enormous bereavement recently, among other things.... is it really too much to ask to want to be among a few friends, without having to worry about whether or not I fit in?

I really hope so. Because I have wanted to come to a meet for ages!!!! :y

I guess at least if I get it off my chest I'll know either way!! :)

I must've missed that. The one & only time we've met was many many years ago at the fateful Lakes meet ..... the time we we were kicked off for 'stealing electric'  ;D ;D

I absolutely loved that meet. I had a whale of a time. I've no idea how my clapped out 2.0 made it up there!!

I'd really like to go to something like that again :y :y

I am a comparative 'newbie' compared to some people.
I am fortunate to be in a position to have a venue for meets, which does attract a super turnout. Because of this, I have met many members and have what I consider a great relationship with all. When you see members quite regularly, you do become friends. There will always be those that seem more 'friendly' towards some others, as they meet socially away from the forum. I personally feel I am accepted by all....and I treat all those who cross my path the same. We have banter, on here, socially away from here, too. But I am in 'no-one's pocket, as they say. I try to treat everyone the same....be it Admin or a first time newbie, or those I only see once a year. I have only met you once James, and after hearing so much about your skills, it was a pleasure to watch you at work.
Some of us are fortunate to be able to travel to meets, short or long distance, and I do, as often as I can. Because I meet some members a few times a year, I would hate being called 'in the clique'.
As the saying goes....One for all, and all for one :y

I'm kinda confused as to how / why there can be ant problems with those attending these meets.. Everyone's there for the same reason.. To share knowledge and show off their pride and joy.. Can't fathom how people can fall out with each other.. ???

Your not alone James .. I've wanted to go to many meetings but just
put off through personal fears and feelings of being out of place  :(
One particular time i was put off by a members comment .. face to face and has put me off
a bit  :(
