Newbie 2001 Omega 2.2 Auto faults and errors....
« on: 31 May 2015, 00:19:04 »

Due to recent health problems and prognosis ive been forced to sell my manuals and buy an Auto...
Mate had this Omega as his 2nd runabout work wagen... So was cheap and cheerful, had faults which I cant get my head around. Any help would be gratefully received...

On buying the car the EML was lit and showing error p10070 iirc lean bank.... the car would intermittently splutter at starting or idle and stall. Idle at times was rough lumpy and stall.
Driving the car seems down on power and  intermittently drops revs to idle and car slows accordingly, seems like car forgets the accelerator exists for a few seconds them slowly remembers and allows you to drive on...

No other faults are listed with the code readers ive used.

On the off chance the MAF was faulty ive disconnected it and drove the past day with it disconnected and the stalling and spluttering has gone, its more powerful and responsive but still not 100%....

What could be causing the loss of power, dropping accelerator response? Was thinking the coil pack was on the way out ...

Can you confirm the fault code, as that isn't valid.

If its P0170, you're looking for airleaks between the MAF and the engine, or holes in the exhaust.  Could potentially be MAF or lamda, but would need live data readings to prove that.  Don't change parts without proving.
