....and everyone on here for direct or indirect help with my rear wheel bearing.

What a shit of a job that is.  With no strength left in my arms it took me an hour to get the hand brake shoe spring slips back on. ....AN HOUR! ;D

Been at it since 12.30 since getting back from Sindon machine mart for spline bit set and big bugger circlip pliers. Plus hbv and wiper mech stuff, but I am bolardsed. Completely.

But thank you gents. Nick I did have to grind a bit off the bearing tool lug, but it worked well. Lazytinker for helping yesterday, and Al for picking up the phone after a night shift  :-[ sorry :y

Chris, adjusting the tool doesn't matter as it was hardly precision engineering. I do have a design for a better one that will work on the bearing as well, but need some dimensions that will require removing a hub so it can wait.

Why was reassembling the handbrake difficult? Or rather, why didn't you assemble it before refitting the hub when it's much easier? The best brake tool I've bought is Sealey's VS0351, which is simply a small hook costing about £5. Worth every penny.

I did warn you about the circlip!

There was evidence of water ingress but no play in the bearing, just roughness and noise.

Yes I was too focused on the bearing side of things, and my concern of getting the ready for the morning. Having not done one before.

It'll be quicker next time. (Lob it at a garage  ;D )

Yes the circlip wasn't too bad, it just needs to fully compressed before it will go in. Something the pliers didn't allow initially, without slight modification. Then it just went straight in.

I wasn't going to bother with it this weekend, but that Lazytinker led me astray.
