Talking as someone who employs Bar Staff, all of which have other jobs.....HMRC already have their details, and when I start anyone else, I require all their details (not other employment) Ni number, D.O.B, name and address. This is forwarded to HMRC and they send us any relevant tax code, and they are taxed accordingly. :y

Thanks Terbs, that sounds good, I guess that the worst that could happen is I pay to much tax and get a rebate at the end of the year. It would be better if I could go self employed, but sadly that will not be the case............ :y :y

The system must work, Mike, because apart from people with two or more jobs, we also have some 'retired' people. Some have codes as basic rate tax, as their pensions are more than the allowance, and we have others who are under the allowance, and I stop no tax. And others who have a code, of nil tax, but they can be taxed according to the tax tables, when they earn more than usual and that takes them to above the limit. And occasionally, they pay no tax but get a rebate. Does that make sense :y
Should also say that all these employees do receive a P60 from us at the end of the tax year :y

From what I remember your tax free allowance is on your main job and the you pay basic rate on the other(s), and then you`ll have to claim back any over paid tax with a tax return, which you can do online and is easy.  :y

As confirmation, Mike, I have just done the May salaries, and one person paid no tax, another paid less tax, and another, a pensioner, got a rebate. All others paid basic rate. :y
All staff are on 'second or more' jobs, or as well as a pension :y

Good luck with your venture/s :y
