engine/ gearbox mounts
« on: 02 June 2015, 18:17:55 »

I have some engine movement, so I'm assuming one or more of the mounts have got a little tired.

So my questions are, what's the common mount that goes or do I replace the lot whilst I'm wriggling under the car.

In one of the posts someone mentioned stabilising rams? Does the 2.6 have these fitted.

Is there or does anyone want to make a maintenance guide for the mounts? Or is it that obvious when I'm under the car.

Many thanks

The left hand engine mount will fail first. Closely followed by the gearbox mounting ::)

Were fitted to omega A, and some very early omega B, think the sub-frame has the holes for them.

My 1994 Omega had them. I wondered why I hadn't noticed them on my 2003 Omega.

Not sure if my Carlton (Omega A) had them  :-\ I didn't seem to need to spend half as much time crawling around under it as I have had to with the Omega Bs ::)

Carltons and Senators had them, they`re like mini bonnet struts, but the engine mounts weren`t as good so maybe thats why GM omitted them on the Omega.
