Hi,

My Dad (currently in Hospital  ) has a Omega 2.2 CD Auto Facelift (W plate).

He complains that the indicators "Beep" is not loud enough (and has  left them on a few occasions).

Is there a simple way of fitting a internal 12V buzzer which will give clear audible sound that indicators are on !!!!

He does have a Towbar and single Trailer Electrics fitted if that would make the task easier ?

I can sort it for him whilst he is in the Hospital.

Dead easy if you know where the indicator relay is.  I have a feeling its tucked way up under the dash behind the fusebox though. 

Someone far more knowledgable will be able to tell you!

I have the MFL but expect Relay for my Dads FL is in the same location ?  Wherever that is ?

No idea ......    there are many more on the forum that are competent with electrickery than me 

I know that the 4 pin trailer relay has a louder click  I hate the volume of the click of my merc & wish it was quieter.

It is simple to buy an audible warning device .. Ring RCT380 is one .. but the wiring diagrams are designed to tell you when the trailer indicators are working .. should be easy enough to modify to just the car IMHO

Might be worth investigating some of the indicator buzzers used on motorbikes - They are also very loud, as designed to be heard in a crash helmet over the noise of the exhausts.

Not convinced your Dad is going thank you for the mod, not unless it can be switched off at least.

Out of interest some of the BMW's are fully electronic, and then have additional electronics that drive a relay which does nothing more than make a tick took noise behind the dash.

I think my R Class is like that .... a duff indicator bulb gives a rapid flash of the dash tell tale, but the remaining indicators themselves flash at their normal rate

Can be done with just 2 diodes 1N4002 or equivalent and a buzzer.

Wire the anodes of the diodes to the black/green and black/white wire on the indicator switch (1 diode each).

Join the cathode's of the diodes together and wire them to the buzzer +

Connect the buzzer - to 0V/Earth.

Simples.

The bike one I have on my Beach Buggy doesn`t sound for the first 20 or so flashes, so you can approach junctions etc in silence, its only when you leave the indicators on for a longer period that they start to beep.

Have a search on ebay for the bike warning ones, some are straightforward buzzers, whilst some are advertised as having a time delay on them - mine came from my local bike shop, but sadly now gone - if you have a bike shop near you, suggest to have a word with them
