I also understand that LPG-equipped cars can't go through the Channel tunnel... What's the reason for this ?
Quite simple, and falls into two points ..
1. When the "risk assessment" was done there were no LPG powered vehicles in common use, so they were never considered. To redo the "risk assessment" document now would cost a fortune and open up a whole can of worms that the Tunnel company don't want.
2. Same "risk assessment" document defined the risk of caravans/motorhomes etc that carry portable LPG bottles as acceptable PROVIDING THE TANK VALVES ARE MANUALLY CLOSED. Car LPG systems don't have a manual valve only a solenoid one.
So, LPG powered cars with fixed tanks not included in the risk assessment, and the LPG system itself cannot obey the instructions for portable tanks, so far easier, and cheaper, to simply say "no LPG powered vehicles allowed"
