It always seems to have been the way. Before the tunnel striking Frenchmen would build barricades/set fire to trucks and all sorts of stuff at the ferry ports.Nowadays of course they have to do similar to the tunnel at the same time as at the ports. What does the French government do about it?Why they do the same as they've always done-absolutely jack!!and no doubt they'll continue to do the same in future. On a personal level I don't care whether the tunnel ever re-opens or the ferry ports for that matter as I'm not about to go to or through France. On a commercial level of course we need these points open and working. The French government should be forced to pay compensation to businesses that suffer under such circumstances.
Fat chance. They won't even pay the fines that the EU levy on them.

Quite agree, and they're usually the first to jump up and down screaming that everyone else should obey the rules, whilst being the first to totally ignore those same rules.

Oh no you don't. Ive seen a fair bit of Europe and Ive never been to France in my life.  ;)
So you meant boycotting it as a holiday destination? I see.
But how would the poor gendarmerie afford to feed their families if they can't tax British drivers?

We import more from Europe than we export to them, so it will be affecting them worse. :y :y :y

The dispute has been caused where the Chunnel were forced to sell ferries they also operate and they have now stopped Channel operations, so the crew plus unwanted Calais dock workers have been made redundant. This has reduced capacity and will therefore probably mean increased prices. :( :( :(

Another EU masterstroke, just like making Sky split football into different package would make it cheaper and it did the reverse as to watch all televised matches you now have to subscribe to multiple broadcasters. :( :o :o :o

Why would anyone want to holiday in France when Italy isn't that much further ?  :o :D ;D..............I mean boycotting it in every conceivable way. They cant stand the British unless they are taking their money or being rescued from tyranny by them. ;)
That sounds suspiciously like the voice of somebody who has never been to France....

Who cares?  Its a French company with a French problem, let the French sort it out.

Of course, any Brit considering using Le Shuttle needs their head examined anyway ;)

I don't understand that response. I also dare say the hundreds (thousands?) of lorry drivers stuck on the British motorway - parked waiting, wouldn't understand it either. My point is that in this day and age the authorities ouight to be arresting strikers damaging another companies infrastructure and business.
Well, serves them right for using the tunnel ;)

The French authorities have no interest or gains in doing anything about it, either from the strike angle or the immigrant angle. In fact, in the case of the latter, it is beneficial to them not to do anything.

People need to remember that France is effectively run by the very strong trade unions. :o :o :o :o

The have politicians to create vast reams bureaucracy that all the French ignore, to implement the laws that the strong trade unions like, so businesses that don't have to be in France aren't (unless heavily subsidised) and the collection of 57% of GDP in taxes. :o :o :o :o

I've always found 90% of French very friendly and helpful when over in France, with about 10% being deliberately awkward and this is mainly the older generation. :y :y :y :y

IMO culturally, lifestyle and food wise one of the best places on earth to live and for holidays. :y :y :y :y

The cost of Op Stack is horrendous, and should be charged to the ports/ferry operators/chunnel and the French. These organisations would soon be looking at resolving the 'problem' if it was hitting them that hard in the wallet.

I can believe it. I travelled the M20 from Ashford to the M26 today, and realised I'm in the wrong job. Someone must have made a fortune hiring all those chemical shitters out. :o Must have been one every quarter of a mile for the length of it. ;D
