And rightly so!  Why should somebody be permitted reduced cost housing when they can clearly afford to purchase their own home or privately rent? 

Pay the council the going rate for the property in question?? Shocking!

I agree, to a point. But £30K? A couple earning £15K each? Hardly sponging bastards.
