2 old 1 new

Today among the eurobox dross that normally fetches up on the car park there were 2 "oldies" and 1 "newbie" out of the ordinary.First up was the newer of the "oldies",this was a "H" reg.Mark1 Escort twin cam with bulged arches and period correct-if not genuine-wide wheels.Next up came the "newbie"in some way this proved something of a let down.At first-albeit brief-glance I thought Ford had produced a very good looking 2door Mondeo coupe, but it was in fact an Aston Martin DB9!As a Mondeo coupe it was very nice, but as an Aston although it still obviously looked very nice it looked too much like a Mondeo!!For me however the pick of the day arrived mid-afternoon.Not a mint example but a honest well used Riley RM,I'd quite happily have brought that home with me given the chance!

I nearly shat myself in an Aston a few months back, when it decided (in horrific weather) that going straight under heavy acceleration at high speed was not challenging enough for the driver....

So, given your choices, I'd have the Aston. And better life insurance!

I do like Astons, however as said the DB9 for me looks too Mondeo like especially round the nose area.Much like the DB7 was too much like the XK8.

I agree, but I have to say that owning an Aston would be fantastic.

Undoubtably so,a DB5 or 6-although apparently not as nice to drive as they are to look at-or a DBS v8 especially one of the later Oscar India's or perhaps a Virage.basically any that look like an Aston should and not something that Ford have cobbled together from the parts bin!
