Well yes, ;D ...but the old one can be refurbed. Usually. :y

Didn't get the old one back, tbh never asked for it............ ::) ::)

Total cost, inc vat was £267.37, which I was more that happy with........... :D :D

And I don't want a load of posts saying they could have done it cheaper, or similar, I was more that happy with the bill, what ever any other member think............ ;) ;) :-X

Given the call out and the cost of a non return GM alternator AND the agro involved with fitting the poxy thing, I'd say that's a bit of a bargain. Tbh :y

'Yep, I was well chuffed by the bill, he charged me £60, when I mentioned this to him, on collecting the car, he said he would normally charge around £100; but our whole family use him, and have done for many many years........ :y :y '

So your family have never had a reliable car !!!!!!!!!! He must love you, Mike ;D ;D ;D ;D

The new one was probably supplied on an exchange basis, otherwise the bill would have been a good bit higher.

Yeah, and presumes they give you the right one for a 3.2/2.6 and not one for 3,0/2.5, the half wits. ::)

The trick is to look at the install for a minute or so and then attack it, becomes pretty easy once you 'plan your attack'  :y

Another trick is ensuring the sliding section the bolt fits through on the alternator is tapped out to make re-fit much easier.
