MOT advisory = Wishbones ?
« on: 08 July 2015, 22:49:44 »

MOT advisory says,  both sides Front suspension has slight movement at a wishbone pin or bush (2. 5. A. ic).
Just wondering what I am likely to have to have done, and what kind of cost is involved?
No doubt this is part of the cause of the tramlining I am experiencing?
 :) :)

You own a 13 year old car, and it's showing signs of wear. Each wishbone has two rubber joints and a ball joint, eventually they wear out. Taxi Al will give you a reference where you can buy 2 wishbones, 2 track rods and 2 drop links for £80 from ATP. There is guide on this forum how to fit them.
I doubt the slight play would cause tramlining, more likely to be a tyre problem.

I built up my own wishbones with Vx parts, but I am running on ATP droplinks and track rods with no probs, they're very good quality for the price, and by all accounts the most cost-effective solution  :y

New wishbones and set up once complete then. :y

Take the opportunity to change anything else that's suspect on the steering and suspension while you there. :y

Check the guides and faq sections, it's all there :y

Wishbones are universal on all Omegas, only difference you may come across is some pattern don't have a hold for the HID self-levelling bracket.

(meaning 1 minute's work with a drill)

It's springs and dampers that are often model-specific  :)

Do the ATP ones come with said hole?

Thanks

Oh, yes.

ATP are the 'budget' recommended on here. Anything cheaper tends not to last, and anything more expensive tends not to last much longer (to justify the extra cost)

The best option in terms of longevity is to build your own, use Vx and Poly bushes, plus Vx balljoints, and make them up yourself. That way they'll last as long as genuine GM ones, but at a fraction of the cost of the dealer prices.

It's the sort of thing you'd do before you need them, however. If you need them asap, then of course the ATP route is perfectly sound.  :y

???

Only buy them using the link above. The Ebay listing of the same item is generally more expensive, more so if you buy them through ebay.co.uk.

Simply click on the orange button 'In den Warenkorb' followed by 'Zur Kasse'...

Then click on the orange box 'Weiter' underneath 'Bestellung ohne Anmeldung (Gastkauf)...

Then simply fill in the bits marked with an asterisk.

It's really not rocket science, and you don't even need to understand german to use it.
