lol in south africa, they add 2 stroke all the time, now believe it or not, its not uncommon for dti engines to do 5 to 600 th0usand miles, usng the 2so, if it isnt used the common rail diesels die in under 150k, now if the op adds 2so to his ailing dti, it will clean the egr etc but it takes around a thousand miles to start being effective if its really badly coked up, you wouldbe better off taking it apart cleaning it then using 2so every tankful,
the problem with low sulphur diesel is lack of lubrication, this is why shitroen renault peugot HDI pumps die, using 2so in them lubricates the hdi pump and they do really good mileage, you need to use mineral FC STANDARD 2SO FOR PREFERENCE, AS ITS CHEAPER AND LOW ASH, HOWEVER YOU CAN USE SEMI OR FULLY SYNTH its purely a cost issue, wilikinsons sell it very cheaply!
V8S do you really think the fuel companys would tell you to add 2so to thier products? its all made to a certain lubricity standard but its marginal, and older diesels do not like it,they want everyone to buy new diesels, which are designed for usld but all thier sensors etc kepp going wrong so its a waste of time with dpf etc, on that note, if you have a dpf on your diese using 2so will actually help keep it clean, I kid you not! it regenerates a lot less using 2so as it dont soot up so muc h cos of the cleaner burn!
