Ghosts setting off Alarm
« on: 10 July 2015, 08:17:12 »

Hi all

Firstly I would again like to thank Serek for looking after my Omega, he is a star.

If anyone could help with the following I would be really grateful. It would seem that as soon as the sun hits the windows of my car the alarm goes off! This is bl**dy annoying. Does anyone know of why this might happen and if so how to fix the problem. If not can the alarm be dis-activated without affecting start up. The problem does not occur on cloudy days.

Please help before the neighbors form a linch-mob and come at me with pitchforks and torches!

In anticipation, thanks,

Martin

Probably the alarm sensor in the engine bay either needs moving slightly or as below.

When the bonnet gets hot it expands and causes the alarm button to trigger.

Simple fix is to glue a small peice onto the end of the alarm sensor button to increase its travel ,I used the little clear rubber protecter you fit onto furniture to stop it scratching work surfaces..couple of pence from DIY shop....Simples :y

If its factory fit, unplug the bonnet switch for a week and see if it shops.

Pitchforks and Torches eh, there so civilised in Watford, round here they use, guns, axe's and baseball bats.  ;)

As this hasnt been suggested, turn off interior ultra sonics 1st before trying anything else, you may have a flying insect in the car.try that everytime you set alarm and see how it goes.
