VX oil 20l drum
« on: 14 July 2015, 11:22:32 »

I've been trying to track down the 4 for 3 oil offer but all my local dealers have stopped doing this.
I've just been given a price of £28.33 + VAT for a 20l drum of VX 10/40 semi synth which seems excellent, (5l cans are £12.50 + VAT each), so I'm going for it.
This is from a dealer in Liverpool where they'd get their throats cut and goolies removed if it wasn't genuine.  :D
Other VX dealers were quoting 5l 10w/40 semi at £27.15 +VAT each.

Same 'ere. I couldn't get the separate tubs, just the massive keg   :y

Sadly it's up my parents driveway, as there's literally nowhere it can go in our flat!  ;D

I'm down to my last two cans of 5w30 fully, nearly time to go and plead with the parts boys for a good deal on a 20L drum for me.  I have a face that says "bend me over" so I'm not expecting a good response ;D

£34 for 20L sounds pretty good to me though, for semi.

Mine was £38.62, no idea why. This happened at the time, I got three prices in the end - one cheaper than even the £34 but for whatever reason (the look of my face, different bloke serving me, the tribal skygods, who knows) I got the price above on the day.

Other OOFers have been quoted your price, though. Get it at £34, get two if you have the room. It's a bargain  :y

Vauxhall oil offers are like ECP sales... There's always a deal to be had, and always 20 litres... Only thing that varies is the priceband the container ::)

Just for info. can confirm £34.00 for 20l 10w/40 semi. The container is clearly marked 'Trade Club' and I got the impression that the offer is available to anybody who asks for it.
Aaronjb.  I was quoted a bit more for 5w/40 fully synth. but you should be able to get a 'trade offer' with no problems. Put on a 'no nonsense' face, perhaps?   ;)

Speed read this so apologies if not in order, but the 3 for 4 offer no longer exists, because they have lower the price per 5 ltd bottle to equal the 3 for 4 price, but for each bottle.

According to vx Reading that is. Vx Bracknell where not in a position to confirm, as they where being arsy about TC in general.

As I have understod this from the trade club dealer, vx has stopped supplying the oil in the 5 litre cans and now only does a 20 litre for trade club. Any one being able to still find the 5 litre cans is using up old stock

Oh, tell me about it, ended up supporting the drum on a shelf, and pouring as best I could a bit off via an old funnel for a jerrycan into an empty one of the old 5l containers I scrounged. I need an easier system, as you say, the 20l things weigh about the same as me!  :)

So whilst it may be cheaper and seems our best solution now,its an akward container to use.

Too small to have a drain tap fitted and too big to pour easily.Solutions needed  :y

Easy: decant it into the empty 5l containers that you've still got, using a funnel made by cutting the bottom out of a plastic fuel can.

At that price it's almost worth my while buying some!
