Hey, I wouldn't mind doing that - is it legal?
Dare I ask you where you got it from, and how much, please?

You can tint the rears as much as you want, it's  the front's which fall under the law. My 3.2 came with them, I do like them. Cuts down on the glare at night, does keep it cooler.

Does add something, my 3.2:

I removed the fronts, as they were illegal...

Thanks tunnie. Is it easy to apply or does it become a nightmare to get it free from bubbles, etc.?

Personally I would have it done professionally, look far better. Seen some very bad DIY jobs.

Cost wise, not sure, £250 maybe?  :-\

Thanks again.
I've just done a little Googling (they can't touch you for it!) and saw a guide that requires copious amounts of soapy water to be applied to both window and film, which led to a silly question - you do this wetting to the INSIDE of the windows? Hell's teeth, that doesn't seem like a good plan!
If you fit the film to the outside, surely it will slide off in an English summer?

Not too sure about stopping sticky fingered types noseying, round here they'd take it you had something worth hiding and put the windows in anyway! The soapy water bit is to help  slide film into proper position and is then basically squeezed out as you squeegee[or similar]the film onto the window to stick it down.

Ebay £10.99 , different shades available . You get the roll of tint sharp knife and plastic scraper thingie . If you follow the instructions and watch a few youtube videos you should be ok , couple of different ways of doing it . Im going to cut to fit from the outside for the rear then transfer to the inside , heat gun or hair dryer for shrinking the pleats  :)

A thorough clean of the inside with non abrasive pad first , i bought a long blade squeegee thing too  :y

Quote
The rules for tinted front windscreens and front side windows depend on when the vehicle was first used. There are no rules for tinting the rear windscreen or rear passenger windows.
Vehicles first used on 1 April 1985 or later
The front windscreen must let at least 75% of light through and the front side windows must let at least 70% of light through.

Vehicles first used before 1 April 1985
The front windscreen and front side windows must both let at least 70% of light through.

Good job the 1% ive got is not going on the front then , i mean who would do that  ::)

Sorry, another stupid question - I presume you can still see out?
Oops, another one - does the rear screen heater melt it or get reduced in effectiveness?

Yes can still see out, although at night it's quite hard. Glad I have parking sensors!

If you have an Elite, it screws with auto dipping mirror. As it thinks it's night most of the time, so I've unplugged mine  :y

there's a Freelander local to me. The back window looks like the inside of a Aero chocolate bar!  ;D ;D I'm guessing it was a DIY job.  ::)

Be aware if doing the front, the police can, will and do stop you...
And if you are unlucky you can be forced to remove it at the roadside!

Happened to Bob, former owner of big blue.
Its on here somewhere, prob about 3-4 years ago
