The 3.0R estate ticks all the boxes for me as an Omega replacement. :y

Just noticed something...

The (Legacy 3.0R) has a 0-60mph time of 8.2sec

The (Legacy 3.0R Spec-B) has a 0-60mph time of 6.5sec

The Spec-B would be the perfect all rounder, Shame they are so rare though.

Not much to say about Subarus really, there a bit of Marmite car with pretty dull and uninspiring lines.

For me though, the boxer engine is not great in a cruiser as its far more at home in smaller sportier things and is a bit rough around the edges with some interesting power delivery quirks!. I also have big concerns with the Subaru power trains, its all to common to see Imprezas with goosed transfer boxes and gearboxes.

Plus they are not nearly as comfortable as many rivals  :y

So try one and go for a good drive first  :y

There's a pretty decent owners forum, by all accounts so maybe a good omega replacement in that respect too.

Took one for a spin today. I must say it did put a smile on my face. No real issues maintenance wise as i think they are quite robust.
Spark plugs are quite doable just like a beetle. Higher mileage vehicle do use oil due to the flat design of the engine.
Thing that put me off is the price and availability of some of the spares. Until recently wheel bearings (bolt on hub style) were dealer only.
