Will be driving over to Heysham from Ripon late Sunday night, can see it skirts the Lakes, is it an ok road? not a road I have driven as far as I can recall.

Used to be a nice run years ago, over by blubberhouses and past the big golf balls at Flyingdales.

The A59 is a good road, nice open a road, the A65 is ok, can be busy in normal hours as it's only single carriageway but later on it should be ok, more twisty and narrow than the A59 though.
We used to go out that way on the bikes a lot up to devil's bridge at Kirby Lonsdale.

Would have been a lovely drive in a 2.6  saloon, with low milage, just wafting along like the lord :D
