For the extra money (£125 retail for 170pc) I would recommend the 200pc every time.  But it is bloody heavy, not something you would want to carry far.

Only includes ratchet spanners, which whilst convenient, aren't really up to belting with an educator.

Trays available (not online) for £15 if you have a tool chest, and want to put them in there.

Trade price is around £120 if you have access to Halfords Trade.

Extra 15% of these socket sets and most tools at the moment (on top of the standard half price offer)

Consequently the larger ratchet spanner set is now £34

Do you have a link? They seem to have popped the price back up to £300 before offering the 15% here :-(

Very happy with my 170pc set (which I feel is getting a bit heavy so the 200 definitely would be a test of the spine) though I will say there's a couple of bits I'd like to have had / subsequently added. That said, some of these are a long 3/8 ratchet with flexihead, long extension, 21mm spanner - none of which appear in the 200pc set either, so you'll till end up adding to it.

At present, the only thing I've found I'm missing from the 170pc set is an 18mm spanner, which you do get in the 200pc set. I picked an 18mm Britool Made in England one up from a car boot sale for 50p which will do me until I stump up the £8 or so for a Halfords ratchet one.  :)

Not saying 'don't get the 200' just offering my personal experiences :)

I would appear they have bumped the rpice of the 200 piece back up sadly.

The 170 piece is still half price at £125 so works out at £106.25, I bought the 12 piece ratchet spanner set for £34 with the discount.

Tempting then, I might go for the 170 option and just add anything else I need later.....

I bought the 170 piece kit just over a year ago when they had it on special at £110.  :y

It's a great kit and I've never thought "Oooo it could do with a big hammer!" or anything else!  ;D  The only criticism is that the Torx bit wasn't man enough for undoing and doing up headbolts!  :(

Save the receipt as they replace broken bits without any quibble.  :y

Trade price on 170pc is £110ish, 200pc is £120ish

DTM probably got the best deal, as trade price of the (non flexihead) ratchet spanner set is £37.  Flexihead set approx. same, though less spanners in the set).

I think when I bought mine the 200pc was significantly more, otherwise had it only been a tenner more I would have got that instead.  ;)

Can't remember now though, just that the 170pc cost me £110.  :y
