VW Touran EGR
« on: 30 July 2015, 16:35:21 »

(My Dads Car) Logging EGR no flow, but driving perfectly normally.

Anyone experienced this? I assume pop it off and clean it is a good first step?

Remove and clean, also make sure the ports in the mounting are clean to, oven cleaner is great for de-crudding EGR valves (may have to repeat a few times and don't leave it on them for to long as it can erode the alloys).

Of course, No EGR flow is the best option however........it wont re-generate a fitted DPF (depends on age if there is one or not) in this state so its only a matter of time before issues show themselves!

Thank you Mark - its 2004, so I don't believe it has a DFP - does that mean its best to do away with it? Is that possible without having the light on all the time?

If it is the same Tdi PD engine as we have got in our Galaxy then the EGR is actuated by vacuum - it could be the vacuum hoses or the solenoid. it won't be though - take a look at the crap inside the EGR valve and you will wonder how it runs at all ::)

Have a read through this guide http://www.mirez.co.uk/Galaxy/PDF/Galaxy%20-%20Intake%20Manifold%20Cleaning.pdf
