protected no claims is it worth anything
« on: 31 July 2015, 02:07:41 »

i'm looking at insurance, is it worth having protected no claims?  i figure if you have an accident you keep your ncb but you still have to declare the accident at next renewal. anyway if you then change insurance provider will the new provider respect your ncb?

Of course your insurers wont hold, an accident against you,and respect your no claims.
Firstly they will increase your new policy, after your accident, then deduct your no-claims amount from your new premium.
they always work in there favor.

You'll still get heavily screwed at next renewal, just not as hard as if you lost your ncd

Basically, its roughly:
Car + Postcode + Risk - NCD = Premium

So if Risk increases due to previous accident, the premium increases.

Protecting NCD is often same premium, or a couple of quid more, unless you/car/area are risky.
