Corsa replacement key complete
« on: 03 August 2015, 12:39:28 »

Hi all
can someone point me towards the right item/s I need to make up a complete new key for SWMBO's '03 corsa.

Thinking e bay here but not really sure what I need or wether they are available from there.

We have one key , but it will not operate the locking remotely. Locking all works with key in the door , but not from the fob.

Replaced battery & tried to do a re-set with ignition on & pressing the fob , but nothing. Presume fob is fubared.

Fob is a hard plastic 2 button siemans type

Vx stealer wants £160 + vat for a replacement key  :o :o :o :o :o    Bit steep when I only paid £195 for the car ::) ::)

So can I get what is needed from e bay & then get it programmed by someone with a Tech2  or am I going about this all wrong ?

Any help greatly appriciated   :y :y

No response on this as yet so  . . . is there another way to get a complete new key for this 03 corsa apart from going to the stealer at a cost of £160 + vat ?  :'( :'(

Usual fault with them is that the switches fail, not to hard to replace so worth checking first.

Either that or its worth sourcing a new remote from Vx and getting it programmed to the vehicle using tech 2 (check you have the car pass!)

Makes you wonder how the price is worked out.  :-\

My son-in-law broke the key in his ignition barrel a few weeks back and the barrel pin had snapped and jammed the ignition switch assembly, preventing removal of the plastic switch bit. I had to force it off and the tabs broke, but the car was still useable with a screwdriver in the switch slot as the steering lock was stuck in the off position.
My point being, he's just had a new ignition barrel fitted, a new key (for the door locks and coded to the car obviously) and a new switch for the barrel connection. All fitted at a Vauxhall Dealership for £120 all in.  :-\
Car in question is a 52 plate Corsa.

 >:( >:( >:( >:(VX Stealers make my blood boil . . .  I was expecting to pay up to £100  but £160 + vat is cobblers surely.

The thing is we need 2 keys as we often use each others cars ( corsa is a lot cheaper on fuel than my 2  3.2's  ;) ;) )

If & when  I can get a second one made, I can then  see about getting the original repaired :y

Do you have the car pass? If so I would have thought a Tech 2 session would sort the programming so all you would need are the parts and a cut blade :-\

Surely there's a proper automotive locksmith in Southend that can do all this while you wait? A look in the yellow pages should easily find one. The company I use isn't far from you, but being in Gillingham the two rivers in the way would make it impractical. I'd expect it to be cheaper than that, too.
