Anyone know how to.....
« on: 07 August 2015, 16:32:04 »

Get rid of that vile shiny crappy silicone interior spray rubbish,it's the work of the devil and it's got to go as I'm going to do some interior fettling.I will say that I didn't spray the stuff around but previous owners had, and it seems to have the life span of radio active waste and it's got to go! Any advice on a remedy to get rid will be most appreciated and you'll be ''probably '' be mentioned in my will....you won't get anything but you'll get a mention :D ::) TIA :y

These may be more easily accessible and they've worked on everything I've ever tried them on (including silicone sealant)!

Last time some Muppet coverered my dash with it, despite me telling them not to do it, all I had in the car at hand was some Orange Debb and some water, so damp clothe, a touch od Debb made a start followed by some Alloy Wheel Foam Cleaner, job sorted, back to normal.

My other pet hate is that stuff they put on your tyres at the last minute to make them shinny new, seems to make your tyres go brown after a while.

Nope.....it's nasty nasty horrible crap, and on a personal basis I would like to give the person who developed the stuff a 5 litre enema of it .....then he will know what a pain in the arse it is to get rid every time he goes for a dump :o :P

Those wipes look ok, Ken. Also you will keep your skin all airy fairy and soft like it is now. Says they deal with silicone.
Let us know how you get on, because I get that screen reflection, which is a total pain in the arse >:(

That reflecting dashboar is a nightmare on summer. Cannot see anything sometimes, when the light hits it. Gonna make more matte, to see if it helps. Biggest problem thou is the reason, that the angle of the windscreen and the dashboard related to each other is bad.

Nitro, Seriously though do you wear sun glasses?

I bought my first pair of polarized sunglasses for driving years ago and I have never looked back. They instantly remove any glare from the windscreen. This explains how it works.

https://www.polarization.com/water/water.html

The only other option I can think of, if you can't wear sunglasses is to flock the dashboard like they do on rally cars. But I don't think I would want to myself.

Hope this helps.

Just read on another forum that they used 45% alcohol to remove what was on there vinyl. Maybe worth a Google search on it.

Try a good brand of polarized sunglasses first you will be amazed by the difference. I will never go back to driving with normal sunglasses.

Good luck with what ever you try.  :y
