Tor tends to get used by shall we say rather dubious ( and some may say sick bastards) people and organisations and because of this, draws the attention of certain branches of law enforcement 
Remember ................ Regardless of what some people claim, everything can be monitored

Tor only provides anonymity if you use it for browsing sites, once you log into a service like email your locality is, in theory, possible to be determined.

But, depends whether your activities warrant the effort to track you

There are quite a lot of VPN products that we expats are "forced" to use to appear to be in a different location. Useful for watching foreign TV like the BBC via the Internet.

The pricing structure that the budget airlines use is oft the topic of expat forums. It is fairly common knowledge or folklore that the algorythm for pricing spots you have looked at a flight etc before and ups the price a bit. Quite possible that a cruise would be similar.

Well if it does, it is not acting on it. I've just checked one for next year using Tor then Waterfox. Tor price in $ compared to £'s in WF was £800 cheaper! No doubt once registered with a UK address the price will go up.

Hmmm, actually, does it only have the address of the last relay, thinking about it...

Probably one for Guffers, as he is in IT security, and will know more about TOR than I do.

It will depends on how much packet inspection is done on the traffic.  Most high traffic sites don't have the overhead or processing power to do a deep analysis on all traffic so it would only see your last hop's ip address.

And the way tor works means that last ip could be anywhere and not local to the destination server.  It could work in your favour or not.

Best to use something like tunnel bear or ghost where you can specify the location (even for free) in order to compare the prices.

As I travel a lot I have a vpn at home running on an odroid x3 which would normally be able to do a throughput of 30mb+ but my speed is limited to 130 up and 10 down so I can only ever get a max of 10 through the vpn.  This is plenty for me to get round I player and nowtv restrictions.  I pay for it, I live in the uk , so why shouldn't I be a to use them when I am at work.
