Komodo Dragon Chillis
« on: 22 August 2015, 23:37:49 »

I bought a pack of these tonight where they have just been introduced into Tesco. These are the new hottest chilies in the UK and at 1.4million Scoville units they are hotter than Naga and Scotch Bonnets. They are fer, fer, fer, fer, fer, fer, flaming hot when eating them raw and after the first quarter of one, I've have had to take a few minutes break before eating the next quarter, which made me a bit light headed, after 3/4 quarters which included where the seeds form, hotter still so my stomach was like an inferno and this is a first for me, I had to take two swigs of milk and I've now finishing the chili, but I have had to take a couple more swigs of milk where the cumulative effect of the chili has now made my mouth an inferno. :o :o :o :o :o :o :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

After about 5-10 minutes now all settle down. :y :y :y :y Would I eat a raw one again, yes as it was a challenge and if anybody wants to see it done. :y :y :y :y

Wimps ;D ;D ;D ;D

Any of the hot chili munchers on here up for the raw Komodo Dragon eating challenge?

I will be surprised as my digestive system is used to my daily chili input, so I don't normally suffer. :y :y :y :y

I will let you know tomorrow if my ring is like STMO's after he has been sharing a cell with an oversexed big Winston. ??? ??? :-[ :-[

For some reason, my lamb naga on Friday was particularly hot, which lead to some "discomfort" yesterday morning on the potty.

Last time I ate red chillis, next morning I thought I had shit them whole. Then I realised it was just my piles dangling down.

I've decided to stop ordering stuff that isn't on the menu at your curry house... I'm sure they took revenge with the last Ceylon I ordered!

For the same reasons that people climb mountains, ride at up to 200mph on twisty dangerous road circuits or want to be the fastest over 0.25 miles, to show that they can, that they can conqueur the challenge. :y :y :y :y

Our personal and societies collective endeavours doing this is why society progresses, without it we would have never moved beyond the local hunter gatherer range where we had been born and would all still be living on. :( :( :( :(

Not directly related to your comment, but I think spicy food can become addictive, as those spices explode in your mouth. I guess like an adrenalin junkie, you're always looking for the next stage?

I know my limits. I can't eat that shit my little bro used to eat, far too hot for me.

For me, its about the spice, not the heat, hence I tend to have naga curries, rather than madras/vindaloo/phal etc.  And I only know of one pub that does a decent chilli con carne, as most of the "hot" ones are bland.

Yes, chilli has got an addictive element and if you eat spiced food regularly your palate and digestive system does get used to it. What I enjoy is the spiciness highlights different flavours in the food that you don't normally notice in unspiced food and it is why I normally have a vindaloo with Palau rice, a side dish like a bombay or saag aloo and a keema naan as I like the combinations of different tastes as well as the spiciness. In a vindaloo most of the spiciness comes from the ingredient of mustard seeds rather than chilli peppers and the ingredients you use to marinate the meat or fish in vinegar IME has a big affect on the flavour.

As well as the heat the Komodo Dragon chillies have got a nice sweetish-earthy flavour.

There is also the 'what the hell' lets give it a try, but I not sure I would go for one of those XXX burgers from a burger bar in Brighton at 9.2 million on the Scoville scale!

I must admit I like my thai food as hot as it comes (spice level: local)

It's not macho it's just that I have discovered that thai food reduces my crohns symptoms (hence the cooking classes) and the spicier the more the effect.  Although I have a suspicion that it has more to do with the fish sauce (fermented fish juice) which is full of nutrient good for the gut,

Indeed they are, 450 x hotter than tabasco sauce, one lad just sat speechless in shock in the bar for two hours while "various fluids" drained from his face onto the table. I have a picture but don't think anyone would want to see it  :'(
