I need to take of my exhaust back box. I know the two clamps undo but any tips for seperating. Big rubber hammer, heat. I dont want to cut off as doing this on my drive and need to fix a new box straight back on.

Get some heat on there and a good hammer it will come off if your replacing it don't worry about using a rubber hammer

As said..heat,,,,,clamps off...and a very small sharp steel chisel and open  up the slits in the exhaust where clamps fitted...spray plenty plus gas onto joints and let it soak in and then the hammer the box off while still using plenty of plus gas to help break the rust on the pipe joints..,,,but be carefull and keep an eye on the front part of the exhaust for stress....should come off ok...

Mainly as flyer said. I have rear wheels on the ramps, undo clamps, chisel into the slots to lift them, then I got a small hacksaw and cut at the rear of the slots towards the box, basically extending the slots, then using the chisel to open up more, until box is loose, then waggle box and detach. Just did two of mine a couple of weeks ago. Surprised myself how quick they came off. all done in a couple of hours.
But as flyer said, don't stress the front pipes, which is why I did not hammer them.

Buy new rubber hangers, and cut off the old ones.

If it's been on there a while then the clamps will probably snap when you undo them, which saves a lot of grief.

Bang each slip joint as hard as you can with a club hammer, and beat the back box off.

Jacking(and supporting properly) gives more room to work, but isn't actually necessary.

30 minute job, working on your own and not rushing.

Thanks for all the tips.. Only one thing is its a irmscher box so is being taken off to be repaired.

That changes things a bit. Makes it harder to beat it to get it off!!

It's possible but not easy. May be easier in the long run to get a new ETS system so you can cut through the old mid section pipes and separate that way.
