Omega Broken?
« on: 27 August 2015, 20:46:04 »

So half an hour ago I've gone to supermarket, about 5km from home, minutes latter when I came back to the car there it was a trail of water behind the car and a pool of water at the ground.
Opened the bonnet and while running big hose without any pressure but tank with pressure! What does this mean? If squeeze the big hose can ear the water flowing back to the expansion tank.

Big hose was hot...

Assuming that's coolant then you have a big leak. You need to find where the leak is.

Get someone to play with the heater settings whilst you watch the HBV as that's probably the most common coolant leak on the Omega.

So it's HBV for sure it must be because I was playing with AIRCON one hour or two before...

I wouldn't say it's that for sure.

If you have A/C on, the water you're seeing could be from this (that's normal).

Is it definitely coolant and are you losing coolant rapidly?

It is coolant for sure and I feel that something is blocking the circulation.
Now stopped till new HBV arrives.
Perhaps it good idea to change the thermostat also, and yes coolant has gone while I was stopped except the small amount kept in the expansion tank I could feel the big hose all empty!

If hbv is leaking, there isnt a blockage, fix hbv 1st and then refill coolant, and bleed it,then see if there is a problem,we know have 2 threads started for same problem, which may get confusing for the older members on here  :y

I'd have tested it first before ordering a new one. Coolant can leak from anywhere in the system. HBV is common but not definite.

As TMF said, fix the leak first then see where you are. in my opinion  :y

This is how I would do it......(though perhaps others have other methods)

1. top coolant tank up with water (no point wasting expensive coolant as you know you have a leak
2. start car and run up to temperature
3. watch HBV whilst a friend plays with all the heater settings (try full cold, full hot, medium heat, full fan, low fan, a/c off, a/c on etc etc)
4.) at some point you should see coolant dribbling out from hbv whilst your friend is doing this
5.) if it is leaking, look in maintenance guide for ''HBV replacement'' and follow the procedure
