3.2 autogearbox stuck in 4th

Accelerating from lights,loud clunk,spanner light comes on dash,stuck in top gear,will not go lower via shift lever,sport and snow setting not working. Any suggestions,87k,gearbox oil and filter changed at 73k,been driving perfectly previously......

It's in limp mode. Where in bucks are you? I have code reading kit etc :y

Ideally needs the codes read in the gearbox.

However, with these, worth checking that the LED indicators next to gearstick light up properly with lever movement, rather than all coming on, or flashing. If this isn't correct, it'll dump the gearbox into 3rd gear (limp mode)

Oh, it will happen again.  The fault codes will be stored.  Get them read, and get the problem sorted.  Probably just a dirty selector switch, but if you don't sort it, you could be a long way from home getting a costly recovery.
