Fuel saving ? I don't think so.
« on: 13 September 2015, 20:41:52 »

Whilst on my hols read an article on fuel saving, so I have put one of the tips to the test over the past week, my return trip to work is 54 miles on good A roads I normally get 30 mpg out of my 2.6 quite easily. The suggestion was by reducing my speed by 5mph I could get 10% more mpg well I tried it & still got 30 mpg so that's nonsense, but what I did notice was that fewer drivers attempted to overtake me when driving 5 mph below the legal limits , any thoughts why that should be ?

It's not so much the speed as how you get there. Gentle acceleration and braking is the way to go. Ask Jaime.

34mpg at 77mph, 40+ at 58mph. using cruise on the motorway.  58 mph means you only ever see one lorry.
