The removal of rear shock top nut, what size spanner was needed for the centre flat bit.

Was it 5 or 6mm? I used an adjustable last time, but want to invest in proper size as it slipped too easily.

Sounds like you need to invest in a decent set Tunnie.    One of my best ever Xmas pressies was a 5mm - 24mm spanner set!

Current set goes down to 8. Also got the ratchet set, and other ratchet set with wiggly ends too.

Just not small enough

No idea of the size of spanner you need, but there are adjustable spanners & there are adjustable spanners. I've a collection of Bahco adjustables which includes a couple of these ...... they're not infallible, but better than your average cheapo 'mover'

Cheers. Ones I have are not brilliant, but did job just. This time want right size really, avoid rounding them off.

I melted my 5, 5.5 and 6mm ones which I had to cover most eventualities.

It's such a small size compared to the thread that rounding them off is quite normal.
Then you switch to mole grips to get the job done.

Not having the correct size spanner just means you skip the first step.

Halfords socket sets go down that small, admittedly in 1/4" size.

Having said that I just chopped the old nut off mine, ready for replacement, as the thread and nut were both knackered.
