Estate car

Saw a Mercedes CLS 220 estate car today,must say it looks quite an impressive piece of kit.But with the way the rear roof line dips can it really be practical as an estate?I'm not after buying one-or any other estate car come to that-But surely an estate car should have at least a modicum of load lugging capacity?

Not tied the Merc you understand just saw it parked at side of the road.Are BMW estates rubbish too then?Can't say as I've seen one for a long time.

It'll probably be in the repair shop anyway  >:( ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Our '13 plate one is, needs a new engine...........again!!!!  ::) :o

The E-class Merc Estate has a useful load area, but the C-class are too small. I believe the Mondeo Estate is much bigger, nearly as big as the Omega in fact. :y

E class estate boot is a quarter bigger than the Omega... itself no shrinking violet at an official 540 litres 8)

This surprised me, that the new Mondeo is smaller than the last model.

Boot space is vitally important when you're buying an estate car, so it's surprising to learn that the new Mondeo estate's 525-litre luggage capacity is 12 litres shy of the old model's. It’s also 125 litres less than you get in the Volkswagen Passat estate, which now leads the class for luggage space. Maximum capacity with the rear seats folded down also falls behind the Passat (1,630 versus 1,780 litres). :-\

I think you'll find it's a Shooting Brake ........  ;)

They're fairly new on the market ..... within the last few years ...... as you say, they're not exactly the car you'd buy for a tip run, but they look good. Not type aproved for a tow bar though  ??? :(

Earlier versions are cheaper, I like the face lifted ones from 2007 onwards.
