MOT Pass . with advisory.
« on: 28 September 2015, 16:58:33 »

That time of the year again, V6 always goes back to the main dealer who supplied it new & whom I purchased it from. Glad to say it passed 1 advisory  Direction indicators slightly discoloured rear ,can't see anything wrong myself , any advice guys ?

The orange on the bulbs is painted on... Eventually the paint cracks and flakes off allowing the bulb to show white light, which is generally frowned upon...

Good result though and a nice easy fix :y

Art shop, glass tinting translucent paint? It comes in amber and red, for the stop/tail section, too.

Stop/Tail has red lenses ::)

Inappropriate paint will flake off faster than you can refit the bulbs. Besides given the cost of bulbs, it would be cheaper to buy new orange bulbs than find the paint for them ;)

Sorry Al, I assumed it was the lenses that needed to be coloured. The glass paint I had in mind is heatproof - I used to use it to make quick prototype printed circuits which were then etched in hot ferric chloride, so it's tough!
However, I agree that as the bulbs themselves are the problem it's quicker and more cost-effective to fit new ones.

Indeed, the orange paint will have flaked off bulb. You'll see difference when you pop a new one in :)

Doesnt reall matter about using them in the rears but in the fronts it gets rid of the 'fried egg' look you get with orange coloured bulbs...

Iv used them in 4 of my cars so far and always passed an MoT with them installed...

The MoT man would have to be very picky if he fails a car on a bulb that hasn't been approved.... as long as it glows amber when it needs to - what does it matter...? ;) ::)

Fair dos :y

Figured there must have been a reason why Irmscher only sold theirs in a single market...
