Ta chaps. I have suggested he source a full set of vac pipes from a breaker on here, since we are going to be removing a lot of bits anyway we might as well put that right as well...

...once I have one of those "day off" things.  :-X

yeah, I've heard of one of them. Some people get two a week, so I hear. I'm sure I used to have them, too...  :)

Problem is the vac pipes are not right anyway, so tracing which ones have been removed and not replaced properly is difficult. Other problem is my ridiculous shift pattern, we ended up finishing in darkness...

It idles like a you-know-what, but as soon as its moving, OP reports that its just as normal. Does that narrow down where to be looking?

I'm utterly embarrassed to be honest, Ive done half a dozen, and I wrote the spigging guide, and this is the first one to not go right...
Listen mate this not your fault,in any way shape or form.I asked for your help fitting the hbv and you kindly gave it,nobody's perfect. We have probably just made a little mistake, when refitting everything.I am going to have another look tomorrow, and spray a bit of carb cleaner about.Maybe i can narrow it down to an area, but knowing my luck it wont be that easy.LOL.Dean.

I reckon dude, if you can get a set of vac pipes, then we'll take more time over doing it. Take everything off, clean up, and sort the vac pipes while we have space to play with.  :y

or later cars...

 :y
Hi i take it my set up is the first one.Been out today to see if i can spot anything, but i may as well be looking up a ducks arse. ;D :D A kind member on here has offered me a set of vac pipes, but from a later car 3ltr x reg i think. My concern's are will this set up have all the pipes i need,it may well have missing the ones i need. Also if the car was idling and running correctly before fitting the hbv, would that not suggest. The vac set up was ok and that i have, disturbed, broken or not fitted something correctly. Also it has been suggested i unplug the MAF,but if it is faulty would it run both rough at idle and when driving.Hope that makes sense,if not feel free to tel me.Any info much appreciated Dean :y

Nice one :y

Disturbing those O rings whilst locating the plenum is pretty easy to do... straightfoward fix though ;)

What was the specific fault, then? Obviously vac leak of some sort.
