Hi all.
Decided that I might as well get the spark plugs done while the oil is being done.
I have trolled the forum and read a load of threads on the subject, although most are well old.
I have got prices for plugs from a couple of local sources (not done Vx Trade club yet.)
For the 2.5...both suppliers were around the same.....£3.24ea or £2.58ea.(discounted)
For the 2.6...ECP said NGK £7.31ea which are 4 electrode, and Bosch £3.96ea which are 2 electrode.
My other supplier quoted £5.64 for the 2.6 (discounted)
Going back to the old threads on here, there seems to be some thought that it is not worth putting in the 4 electrode, and 2 will suffice.
Is there any update to this thinking, bearing in mind, the threads I found were many years old, and subsequent trials may have proved otherwise.
Advice please...... :y

Tony its the twin electrode one from Vx you need..  The part number is here  :y

GM twin electrodes on trade club are the normal recommendation, and good value.. and whatever will work on the 2.5 will also be fine in the 2.6 and vice versa. :y

Looks like a saving to be made.
I have to ask one question, though.....why do they get listed separately and are different prices if they are compatible. ECP part numbers are different for each vehicle ???

The spark plug service interval was increased to 80K from 40K for the 2.6 and 3.2, necessitating a 4 electrode spark plug, so I would imagine that's why the part changed for the 2.6.

In practice, the spark plugs last very well regardless of type and they actually work loose in less than 80K if you do try to stretch their life that long. If you're going to have to tighten them at 40K or less anyway, you might as well fit twins and change them at each cam belt renewal IMHO.

That, I have to say, Kevin, is very logical thinking. :y
To be quite frank, if they can stay in there for 40K, this set of plugs will be their last. Allowing for the age of the cars, I won't do 40K in one, let alone divided by three !!!! :)
Without checking back through all three service histories, its as easy to change them now and then forget about it. :y
Or does age figure in the equation ?

Message the ever-helpful Keith at ABS, he'll sort you out with a full set of plugs, filters (oil, fuel, pollen) all for less than the price of just the plugs from Vx  :y

Thanks Steve...checked compatability...2.5 ok. not 2.6.
However, as Kevin says, they will be compatible, but their charts are probably geared up for the 4 electrode version. :y

As terbert says does age come into the equation. Mine have done around 20,000 miles in approx 5.5 years

Twin electrode is a good choice.

In a lot of cases the four electrode plugs don't clean as well.

Would these be okay in a 3.2?

They good enough for Mr pattern, they good enough for you.
 I find twins are a lot better, less fouling and less misfire.
