Tail pipe length
« on: 19 October 2015, 12:31:25 »

Hi...
I have just fitted a new backbox to the 2.6 saloon (03). Its not quite the same as the one that came off, but was advertised as for a 2.2 or 2.6.
Does the tail pipe have to extend out from the bumper ? On my 2.6 estate it does, and on the 2.5 estate, its right under, to the inside edge of the bumper. I can't pull the backbox back any more on the saloon, as it hits a mounting rod. : ( Being as the 2.5 has passed a couple of MOT's like it, can I assume the length is not relevant )

TIA :y

No real problem with a short tail-pipe although you could always get some chrome trims to extend it.

This is normally a symptom of an exhaust designed for a pre-facelift being fitted to a facelift, where the bumpers extend a little further back.

I popped an exhaust trim on the 2.2 to make it look a bit better and to bring the trim all the way to end of the bumper.

On the 3.2 I never bothered  :y

They had 2.0 and 3.0 systems put on mine  :)

I think I shall have to get a full system (cat back) from abroad, like I did for the 2.5 Estate. However.....I am having trouble locating the correct system. When I enter Vauxhall, I get not compatible, but if I put in Opel, it is compatible !!!!!!!!
Are Opel and Vauxhall different. I want a system that has got the oyster middle boxes, but the ones on the car are normal shaped. Would oysters fit. As tunnie said, I reckon I have been sold the wrong backbox. :(

Clam shell boxes fit and are the preferred choice  :y

No difference between Vx/Opel for Omega exhausts assuming the engine and body shape are correctly selected.
