Steering wheel tremor.
« on: 20 October 2015, 12:18:22 »

I have a slight steering wheel tremor at about 70-75 MPH which is annoying.

Nothing above or below this speed.

Wheel balance?.......or something else?

Does sound like wheel balancing issues, but that usually manifests itself around the 50-55mph mark.

Worth swapping front wheels to back and see if anything changes?  :-\

The speed it occurs at is very dependent on wheel size and the suspension, I know when mine have been out of balance it is usually around the 75-80mph mark

Sounds like wheel balancing or possible issue with a tyre.

As others have said that seems to point to wheel balance.

Worth swopping backs to front first and having a good look at the tyre for any deformation...if swopping solves the problem or you start feeling a slight shaking ,normally felt in the seat area my money is on balance issue .

Assume you have checked the tyre pressures  :y

Could be a track rod where they screw into the end of the rack...

Any other signs? Odd feathering on the tyre edges? Anything in the Mot history?

I have a slight steering wheel tremor at about 70-75 MPH which is annoying.

Does it happen when the sister in law is NOT in the car ?

 :D :)

Anyway........the wobble has now disappeared.

20g out on the drivers side and 30g out on the passenger side. So I'm told. :y
