I recall a post a while ago detailing part numbers for the different pins.  Some were slightly longer for vented rears ??

Vented rear discs are longer and I was only able to get them from VX dealer who had to order them from Germany.

They arent cheap either ...seem to remember £5/£6 each and you need 4  :(....the anti rattle springs were also different again from memory to suit the pins.

Long split pins work just as well and should be much easier to source.

Good call nick And with the end flared would be more secure. But hold on what about the smaller diameter location  in the caliper

Smaller than what?
I've never seen pad pins that were anything other than a loose fit in any of the holes they go through. And that's before 15 years of road use. All of them have some form of retainer too; whether that's an R-clip, spring clip, or just bending out the ends of the split pin etc etc.

Or you could make a new pin out of some appropriately sized rod, peening one end over with a hammer  and drilling a cross hole for a clip. This would take less time than you'd spend at the parts counter explaining why a standard pin won't work in a vented assembly.

Worth a punt maybe?

Ebay set including anti-rattle jobbie
Nope... clearly not suitable for vented discs :y

And twice the price of normal pattern ones... ::)

Going back to the original question ...... why would you ever need replacement pins? I've had Vauxhalls/Opels for the best part of 30 years that have all used a variation of the pins used on the back of an Omega for locating pads whether that be at the front (MK1 Cav/Manta) or the back ie the Omega, & I've never ever needed new pins.  ??? Knock them out with a pin punch (or 6" nail in Mark's case  ::)) and knock 'em back in again with a smear of copperslip.

Depending on how the car is used/mileage/location etc they can get pretty grotty... causing the pads to stick, which creates all sorts of other issues.
The problem isn't so much the pins, as reversing 10+ years of unmaintenance ;)

If.. IF the pin is still a good, tight fit, then consider treating them to a day or two in white distilled vinegar, this will dissolve all rust, leaving just the steel. No effort. Then 5 mins with a course wet n dry, like 40-60 grit, to get them to a smooth, easy-sliding surface. (ise a flap wheel if you like, even quicker) Copperslip them up, and pop them in.

Depends how you feel. The new ones from the dealer will last another 15-ish years, ideally longer as they'll be (in theory) coated in copperslip from the day you fit them. But I take your point, £6 for what looks like a thick nail feels wrong.  :)

Alternative is to convert to solid rear discs, then your source of pins/springs/discs will never dry up, as these are far far more plentiful than the venteds.

The correct GM part number for the complete pads and fitting kit is:

9195058 PADS BRAKE SET REAR

Buy anything else at your own risk.  You should be able to get them for around £50 if you ask for trade or trade club discount.
