Well I never . . . new job !
« on: 21 October 2015, 12:36:34 »

Well I am surprised  :o . . . but  even more so delighted   :y . .  as I did not think I had a chance of this  :y

I have been totally  fed up with my construction industry job for a few years now . I have for last 15 years been working on local authority "Decent Homes " programmes , which in my case is kitchen & bathroom full refurbs.

It has been steadily getting worse to try & make a living , with prices being constantly cut & more work for less money kind of thing . Biggest problem is though , the main contractor  ( I am a sub contractor) pricing too low just to secure the work . As well as the main contractor management having next to no experience of doing this type of work & making major mistakes constantly, through total lack of "know how" of how the work is done . Basicly they are pen pushers or maybe keyboard pushers now  :-\

So . . . thought I would try & make a move away from hands on fitting etc.   Been looking for while now . . .& cutting a long story short . . . applied for job I did not think I would even get reply from at my age  . . .went for an interview . . .& made the short list of 3  for the  job with a utility company ::)

Just had  the call to give me the job :o :o :o :o . . . .apparently . . experience does count  :o so  start Monday  :o    It is an employed   position. . .so  . . .paid holidays . . . company vehicle  . . phone . .  & hopefully a bit of security for the remaing working life  :-\

Happy days  . . . I'm really chuffed ;D ;D ;D

STEMO . . . part of my new job will be closely examining peoples "holes" . . .

so beware  . . .  I may request a transfer to Barnsley  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Just thinking of what I would have to say to a nice looking slim 40 year old woman  on my first day  . . .

"Oh good morning madam . . . I've come to examine your hole"   :-[ :-[ :-[    ;D ;D ;D

Good new Al. :y

Taking a totally pessimistic view......us self-employed types, always have a trade to fall back on if things go wrong ;)
But you will hack it :y
To be honest, mate, you going employed, is like me retiring.....you know what money is coming in, and no more stress wondering where the next job is coming from. Enjoy :y
